D'Alt Vila has a wonderful medieval district with Gothic buildings, narrow cobblestone streets and traditional whitewashed houses. Bright and colourful with blooming bougainvillea and geraniums in the courtyards, the older part of Ibiza Town is rich with historic treasures to explore. The entrance though the medieval walls, which surround the old town is through the Puerta de las Tablas, where the Archaeological Museum is located amidst the atmospheric historic charm of the old town. Artefacts from the Balearic Islands prehistoric sites are contained within the museum include relics from the Punic period (between the 5th and 7th centuries BC). Within the old towns walls you may also explore an 18th century Baroque nave and a 10th century Gothic tower.
