Granada

Granada is home to the Alhambra palace, which is a fortress structure built in the fourteenth century by the Nasrid rulers and is an amazing piece of Moorish architecture. The huge complex is a highly popular tourist attraction set against the panoramic background of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The city is also home to the Cathedral where Isabel and Ferdinand of Spain are buried in the Royal chapel and a Moorish medina called Albaicin, which is a labyrinth of quaint whitewashed houses and narrow alleys. The relics of the gypsy community are also evident in the old town of Granada, with a labyrinth of historical cave dwellings to explore.
