The town of Mahon is the capital of Minorca, with beautiful beaches and a wide range of restaurants, cafes and shops along the harbour. Occupied by the British in bygone days the town offers a tranquil and conservative atmosphere to it's visitors and is home to classical Georgian houses and mansion houses. Historical attributes to the town include the Golden Farm mansion house overlooking the harbour, which was once the residence of Admiral Lord Nelson and the Xoriguer Gin Distillery. The town also offers an annual music festival in July and August, which includes instruments that date back the Nepoleonic wars. With Minorca's beautiful unspoilt beaches and warm climate, Mahon offers a delightful holiday experience.
