Roquetas De Mar

Roquetas de Mar dates back to Roman times, with a honeycomb of Moorish alleyways and quaint whitewashed houses on the rolling hillsides. The originally sleepy fishing village has developed into a popular tourist resort in recent years, with apartment buildings and hotels starting to dominate the coastline. The resort offers beautiful sandy beaches, with a variety of activity for visitors including, horse riding, sailing and scuba diving, to name just a few. The resort also has many amenities for tourists, including gift shops, restaurants and bars. An 18-hole golf course is located nearby at Playa Serena and the resort also houses a specially designated nudist beach. Visitors looking to explore the cultural and historical side of the resort can start by exploring the medieval Castilla de Santa Ana ruins and for natural pursuits bird watchers can visit the Punta Entinas beaches and Las Marinas salt marsh to see egrets, flamingos and avocets gathering.
